Coffee is one of the world's most consumed beverage. Thought to have been originally discovered in the northeast region of Ethiopia in the 15th century, coffee beans, found in coffee cherries (or berries) on coffee plants, are found growing in over 70 countries; cultivated primarily in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. 'Green Unroasted' coffee is one of the most traded agricultural commodities in the world.
Once roasted, coffee beans must be stored properly to preserve the fresh taste of the bean. Ideally, the container must be airtight and kept in a cool, dry and dark place. In order of importance: air, moisture, heat, and light are the environmental factors responsible for deteriorating flavor in coffee beans.
